The 50's Housewife

I am feeling so elated this morning, because in the interest of trying to save a little money, I have decided to make my husband lunch to take to work. I woke up early (after giving the baby a middle of the night feed at 3.30am) at 7am and got to work in the kitchen making mince & cheese toasties (using the leftover mince from lastnights dinner) which i packed alongisde a small container of peanuts and a small bag of chips.
After I had done that, I proceeded to make him some toast and coffee for breakfast just in time for my loving hubby to walk into the kitchen, give me a peck on the cheek and a cheery "good morning darling"

I strangely felt happy, a sense of achievement??? It was so weird, but I think I understand now how the 1950's housewife felt...being a stay home mum has its perks of course, but I guess there is sometimes this feeling of wanting to be important, to have some kind of drive to make your household a happy and loving one. Breakfast and Lunch for the hubby is only a start, dinner is also a treat and my husband is always so appreciative of a nice hot meal at the end of a long hard day - come on, its the least I can do!!

So I guess for a mum/wife it is built in our DNA somewhere that these types of things (housework included) just make us feel useful and like we have achieved something important for the day - maybe that is why woman of the 50's use to do it? It really is something to think about, because if I really think about it, I never came home from my office job feeling so elated and satisfied before, I guess because by boss doesn't show her appreciation to me like my husband does...hehe

lets see how long that lasts hehe xx
